Aging Well in Parkallen; Volunteer needed

Aging well is important to everyone, and especially so for our seniors. We’re looking for a volunteer who will work with the league and with other organizations to help us support this important segment of our community. Our Aging Well volunteer will first attend an online seminar on March 10 (information below). The seminar was developed by the Age-Friendly Lendrum Community League Coordinator.

If you’re interested in taking on this important role, email volunteer@parkallen.ca today. We’re happy to answer your questions. Like all our volunteers, our Aging Well role will be fully supported by the entire board. You will be a member of a team of committed volunteers who care deeply about improving life for everyone in Parkallen.

Building a Community that Supports Aging Well

Designed for community leaders, this interactive and informative online seminar will help you and your board better understand the concept of aging in place, and the role a community can take in supporting their aging residents to remain independent in their home longer. Jolyn Hall, an Age in Place & 55+ Housing Navigator with Edmonton55 will share how a community can develop resources, resilience and reconnection to create a community that all ages will enjoy living in!

The session will be facilitated by:

Jolyn Hall, who is a previous nurse with over 25 years working with older adults in a variety of settings. As the owner of Edmonton55, Jolyn guides older adults and their family members to navigate decisions to age in place, explore housing transitions and navigate care decisions. Her goal is for all adults to remain in charge of decisions related to their aging experience.
